Oh my gosh....

I still am so stunned at this - really is so very sweet and kind of her - you know those contests Nancy at Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe has been having, (and there is still time to enter a few more of her's if you haven't yet) well, I was checking my Bloglovin reader today and saw a new post from her and well, my mouth fell open when I read her post today - apparently I won! She had asked what was your favorite color and that day I say for some reason, golden honey - I think my family had been having some biscuits with honey or something but it just sprang to mind when I wrote it and oh my goodness, it has brought tears to my eyes, her being so kind - this is! My Morgan lap stand for stitching will be here tomorrow so now I have both of these to look forward to oh and I found 3 great issues of Cross-stitch & Needlework magazines at my local library in their used book sale section for 10 cents each yesterday - 1 has a Mirabilia mermaid and 1 has a Joan Elliott fairy so God is really blessing me of late!

Don't you hate waiting?

Just ordered this on Monday....Morgan lap stand - 7" and 10" hoop sizes - it should allow me to stitch easier with my non-dominant hand (left) while my right hand/arm recovers. I finally got in last week to see an orthopedic specialist and had X-rays and an MRI done on my elbow and now I've been referred to the rheumatology department where I will have fluid withdrawn from my elbow joint. Apparently I have developed some form of inflammatory arthritis that is attacking my joints (it didn't show up in my lab work but in the MRI) so I guess it's a good thing I'm learning how to stitch with my other hand! One good thing, I had a follow up appointment with the ortho doctor this morning and I've been given a prescription for Predisone for 3 weeks so that should definitely help too. Now, if only the postman would arrive with my lap stand :)

Tide is slowly turning I think....

at least it seems to be....

I actually managed to stitch for about 45 minutes today with my right hand before the pain was too much. Not the greatest but it's better than no stitching, right? :)

Anyways, slowly but surely, here's Apple Pickin'

Nancy's Doing One Last Give-Away....

over at the Victorian Sampler Motto Shoppe - you need to tell her what your favorite colors are - I told her right now mine are sort of a golden-honey color - it reminds me so much of The Pedigree of Honey sampler that is now out by Herrscher's - I have it in the original magazine format - keep meaning to do it - I may do this one for the sampler SAL I signed up for instead of the Peaceful Garden - will have to see - I go see an ortho specialist tomorrow - saw a new physical therapist earlier today - she was really upset that I hadn't been seen sooner by one so she called my doctor and had a chat with her - one thing that I don't like is that my original therapist suggested I should be tested for rheumatoid arthritis - which is done by a process of elimination of a battery of tests - and so far, some of the blood work is showing that I may indeed have something off - and this new therapist I saw (my other one is on vacation this week) thinks my elbow joint is offset - at least it's not broken - but I'm being a grump and eating a piece of cherry pie!

anyways, here's the Pedigree of Honey sampler model:

Apple Pickin'....Peaceful Garden....Halloween....

Before I forget, I wanted to say thank you so very much for your comments - they really do mean so much to me :) I just wish I could figure out how to reply properly back to each of you but I do want to say that I love hearing from all of you :) So again my sincerest thank you to each of you :)

I have been stitching a little bit here and there with my non-stitching hand on Lynn's Prints - Apple Pickin

Physical therapy is really taking it's toll on my stitching arm/hand so I haven't been doing as much as I'd like - I think under normal circumstances by now I'd be done with this....I am stitching this on white Monaco but my camera is lousy - and sorry for the alignment - some day I'll get the photos straightened out when posting....

I've joined up with a stitching group on FB and they are having 2 upcoming SALs that I have tentatively signed up for later this year - I think they both start in late August - one is for a sampler stitch-a-long and the other is for a Halloween stitch-a-long. I am turning 50 in August and I decided I wanted to mark the occasion by choosing a special pattern to do - and well, I fell in love with Moira Blackburn's Peaceful Garden - - if you click on the image at StitchandFrog's website, a separate image will appear - you can then double-click on the 4 arrows in the bottom right corner on it and a really large image appears - it's the largest I've been able to find online to really see the details. I've seen a picture of a friend's completed piece that she did - no color or fabric changes - and the colors are so much richer than the photographs shown on the models on websites - I've just fallen in love with it - a couple of other sampler groups I've joined with on FB - when I mentioned this sampler, people raved about it so I think I am making a very wise choice :)

For the Halloween SAL, well, normally I really don't do Halloween - where we live, there really aren't many kids who come around trick-or-treating and we don't have any kids in the immediate family - but anyways, yesterday I was at a local senior thrift store and was looking through their craft section and found a couple of old BHG Cross Stitch & Country Craft magazines - and one had a really cute haunted house pattern on the cover - they have it as a banner but I'll probably frame mine - not sure if my hand will be up to doing all this stitching but it sure is cute - I found a picture of the completed piece online - not sure if I like it with all the buttons - I think it's a bit overkill - maybe some smaller sized buttons would look better.

Oh and for a laugh, here is a photo of my stitching stand - my $3.99 papertowel holder - I brace it between my knee and stomach, lean my hoop against the wooden post, lean my right hand against the metal bar as it rolls a lot, and try to stitch as I can with my left hand - I have to prop my feet up high on a footstool to do this so I can only stitch for short periods of time. I look silly and it's very tiring but it's better than no stitching at all!

Quick Update....

Know I haven't posted much - my right elbow/arm is taking a lot longer to heal up than expected. I started physical therapy last week - they did an ultrasound treatment and electric stimulant treatment with heat and ice - both helped, but they weren't able to complete the ultrasound treatment as the pain was too intense.

On the stitching front, I did have one finish, Sakura branch (most of it was done before my arm accident - finished the rest of it using my left hand) - and I've started Apple Pickin' by Lynn's Prints - not enough to show really as it's very slow going. That's about all the stitching news for now.

Nancy's at it again....Another Giveaway!

Head on over to Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe to find out all the cute details on Nancy's latest giveaway!!!!
